Reflecting on 2017: My Year in Review
I think there was a universal agreement that 2016 was the worst year in a long time- it was just bad for everyone.
But I feel like 2017 made up for it in a lot of ways. There was a lot of bad that happened but the good evened it out. To start out the new year on the right foot I figured I would reflect on achievements I made throughout this past year.
Started my blog
This is the biggest accomplishment I made this year. I have been telling myself for about three years now that I was going to create a blog. I have been reading them for years and always wanted one of my own. However, I always lacked the motivation. In early 2017 I finally purchased my domain and began to set up my blog. By September I was posting weekly.
I even had a few sponsored posts and made some connections in the blogging world. I cannot wait to see what this next year brings with my blog.

Visited a new place
I love traveling. It could be small road trips to a new town or trips to another country but it all makes me so excited! I wanted to travel a lot this year which didn’t really happen but I did get to go to Las Vegas for the first time!
I went with my family and boyfriend for my 21st birthday and it was an amazing experience, I can’t wait to go back and see even more of the world!
Went a year being a vegetarian
From the end of 2016 and all throughout 2017 I maintained a vegetarian diet! This is something that I’ve been wanting to do since I was really young and I’m so happy that I now am successful with it.
To celebrate my year as a vegetarian I did eat a burger at In-n-Out burger while we were in Vegas. However, I immediately went back to vegetarianism and have been doing great with it again!
Learned to be happy on my own
In the beginning of this year I realized the importance of being truly happy and comfortable on your own. It sounds cliche but I totally believe that you won’t find true love or be really happy with someone else if you’re not first comfortable enough to be alone and stop looking for someone.
I spent the first half of this year truly becoming okay with this and working on my own success and happiness. Which brings me to…
Fell in love
In late May I met my now boyfriend and I have never been happier. This is the first relationship that I am truly happy in and feels so real and healthy and just perfect. I am so thankful for him and all the circumstances that lead me to him.
Became more organized
I have never been an organized person by nature. However, I really made strides at it this year. I clean up a lot more than I used to and can’t stand having a messy living area.
The most that I’ve grown with my organization is with planning. I have always been a fan of planners but this year I truly went all out with color-coding my agenda and keeping track of my classes, work, and blog.

Worked really hard in classes
This was by-far my hardest semester since being in college. I felt like every course had so much work with hard-grading professors. But I continuously worked to get the best grades possible and I feel as though it really paid off.
Gave up social media for awhile
This was something that I never thought I could do. I ended up staying off of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat for about a month. As someone who is on socials almost constantly, this was a huge stride. I intended to last the whole semester but it was really hard to promote my articles and grow my blog without social media access.
Reflecting on your year is a great way to prepare for the next year and visualize all of your goals. Hopefully my reflection inspired you to look back on your own achievements in 2017 and prepare for the next year.
Happy New Year everyone, I wish you an amazing 2018!
